The Holiday Surge Starts At Radio For Macy’s

OK, it’s Veterans Day. The holiday shopping season has “officially” started … right?

Well, just go into your closest Macy’s. There are holiday decorations and sales galore. We even purchased a nice new pair of shoes at 30% off.

To help bring in even more customers, Macy’s took to spot radio to lure the early bird Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa shoppers.

According to Media Monitors, some 30,636 spots were placed for Macy’s at the radio stations tracked by the iHeartMedia-owned service.

That put Macy’s in the Spot Ten at No. 7.

Meanwhile, department store rival JCPenney took a similar tact, and is in the Spot Ten this week with its own holiday-themed campaign.

Otherwise, The Home Depot takes off with a big bump in spot plays, reaching No. 1 as GEICO falls to No. 4 when including iHeartRadio; RBR+TVBR does not include iHeart in Spot Ten reports as it does not buy and secure spots as paying advertisers do, with many commercials airing on iHeart-owned stations.
