With a J.D. from Florida International University’s College of Law in Miami and degrees from Orlando’s University of Central Florida, this woman has just joined the office of Government Relations at the U.S. media industry’s biggest lobbying association.

Taking the role of VP of Government Relations, working closely with EVP/Government Relations Shawn Donilon, is Charlyn Stanberry.

Stanberry joins the NAB after serving as Chief of Staff for House Member Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), rising from roles as a counsel and Legislative Director. Stanberry also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia, where she teaches Foundation Civics and Ethics & Values.

“Charlyn has exceled on Capitol Hill, in the private sector and in the legal community, and commands expert knowledge of the legislative process,” said NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith. “America’s local broadcasters will greatly benefit from Charlyn’s work on their behalf and we are delighted to welcome her to NAB.”

Stanberry’s previous roles include a stint as VP for External Affairs for Net Communications, and as counsel for the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council.

In 2020, Stanberry was honored with the Lawyer of the Year Award from the Washington Bar Association, the Public Sector Award of Excellence from Women in Government Relations and was named a Top 40 under 40 Nation’s Best Advocate from the National Bar Association.
