In April, Family Life Radio completed its upgrade to a Class A FM signal previously owned by The E.W. Scripps Co. by selling its Class B AM and accompanying FM translator.
The deal, brokered by Kalil & Co., has now closed, and new owner Fletcher McCusker is having a little fun with what Tucson radio listeners are presently hearing on the facilities.
Now complete is the transfer of Tucson-based Class B KFLT-AM 830 and FM translator K269FV at 101.7 MHz in Oro Valley, Ariz.
Family Life sold the facilities to Tucson Radio LLC, a company headed by Fletcher McCusker (pictured).
McCusker, who has no other broadcast interests at this time, is the CEO of UAVenture Capital. He started the operation with President and co-founder Michael Deitch, and the two are known for their roles involving the IPO of Tucson based Providence Service Corporation.
UAVenture Capital’s mission? “We Are A Venture Capital Fund Designed to Commercialize University of Arizona Science, Technology, Services and Products.”
What’s the future for KFLT? For starters, new call letters KDRI are on the way.
Second, it is presently stunting with “The Greatest (Novelty) Hits of All Time.”
The branding? “The Worm.”
It is believed to be a launch stunt.
