There’s a new commander for the two heritage FM rockers serving the Tidewater Region of Virginia under the Hampton Roads Media Group banner, as Carol Commander has departed the role of General Manager at the Saga Communications-owned pair.
Succeeding Commander is the stations’ Director of Sales: Tiffany McCormack.
That puts her in the driver’s seat for Active Rock WNOR-FM and Classic Rock WAFX “106.9 The Fox,” serving the Norfolk DMA. WAFX’s signal strength allows it to reach the southern portion of the Richmond market, as well as Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
McCormack joined Hampton Roads Media Group in 2014 as an Account Executive and was later promoted to Digital Sales Manager.
Commander, whose history with the company spans more than 25 years, has served as General Manager since November 2022.
McCormack reports to Saga Communications COO Wayne Leland, who said, “Tiffany is a proven leader who combines a deep understanding of our business with an unwavering commitment to our clients, our employees, and the Hampton Roads community. Throughout her career she has consistently delivered results, developed strong teams, and embraced innovation. We are excited to see her lead Hampton Roads Media Group into its next chapter.”
