Max Media of Hampton Roads at 5PM yesterday started stunting as “Kung Pao 100.5” to Norfolk-VA Beach. WXMM-FM, until yesterday a Rock station, has flipped to a “Classic Chinese Hits” format. We heard the traffic report, we streamed the station (www.kungpao1005.com), we saw the website. Seems like a good stunt!
“This might strike some as being risky in the environment of advertising cutbacks, but I’ve looked at the numbers and they don’t lie. There’s literally a clamoring for Classic Chinese Hits,” says Eric Mastel, President of Max Media.
Said Max Media: Promising “All the Classic Chinese Hits of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s without the rap”, Kung Pao 100.5 has, even in it first few minutes on the air, received an outpouring of support from the Hampton Roads community.
Yeah, right…!
We assume the station will try Country…back to its roots…!
