The ABC affiliate serving the Delmarva Peninsula has a new News Director. It is a marketing and public relations leader who has a print journalism background and has served as the News Manager for crosstown WBOC-TV.
Taking the role at the Marquee Broadcasting-owned WMDT “47 ABC” is Joe Carmean.
“Joe brings a deep and diverse background in journalism to the station,” WMDT said on Wednesday in announcing his hiring. “His commitment to local community news is evident throughout his career, from his 12-year run as a reporter to becoming city editor, then managing editor of The Daily Times in Salisbury, overseeing its fleet of publications across Delmarva, and as News Manager at WBOC.
“Joe brings a wealth of newsroom leadership experience, and we are excited to have him lead our news team,” said Stephanie Willey, General Manager of WMDT.
Carmean was at WBOC from 2012 through summer 2021.
