In March 2021, an Executive Producer and Media Financier who has put his dollars into independent films, directors, producers, artists and entertainment struck a deal to acquire the licenses and real estate associated with KKGX-AM 920 in Palm Springs and its FM Translator, K256CU at 99.1 MHz, branded as “Real Talk KGX“; and “Easy Listening” KWXY-AM 1340 in Cathedral City along with its FM translator, K222DA at 92.3 MHz.
Then, six months ago, it struck a deal with Educational Media Foundation (EMF) to capture a bigger FM translator for KWXY, but that deal never closed.
Now, Louie Comella is adding a broadcast TV property to his Coachella Valley broadcast holdings.
KVPS-LD in Palm Springs, Calif., presently a NewsNet affiliate, is being sold by Esther Arenas.
With the assistance of legal counsel Dan J. Alpert and Rockwell Media Services, headed by Morgan Skinner, Arenas is pocketing $325,000 from the LPTVs sale. A $25,000 downpayment has been made to Arenas by Comella through his Broadcast Media Networks Ltd.
Both Rockwell Media Services and Kozacko Media Services were brokers active in this deal, with the latter representing the buyer.
Comella’s legal counsel is Philip Racusin of Houston-based Conner & Winters LLP.
