Connoisseur Media is doing something we haven’t seen much of for quite some time – it’s striking a good old-fashioned Telecom 1996 consolidation deal in Billings MT in a Kalil & Co.-brokered deal with regional group Cherry Creek Radio.
Connoisseur, which already has two stations in the market, will be adding KBLG-AM, KRKX-FM, and KRZN-FM. An LMA for KRZN-FM and KBLG-AM will kick off 11/20/09, with another LMA for KRKX-to follow 12/1/09.
“We are extremely excited to begin working with such heritage radio stations, and Connoisseur Media looks forward to bringing to them the same passion we have for My 105.9 and Planet 106.7”, said Cam Maxwell, Connoisseur Media General Manager.
Cherry Creek’s Joe Schwartz noted that there were just too many licensee mouths to feed in the small market, indicating the need for a reduction. “The Billings market needed a consolidation of ownership to reduce the amount of clusters in the market. We’re pleased that our good friends at Connoisseur had the interest and resources to take on our stations and to continue serving the community. We wish them the best of luck in the future.”
In addition to Billings, Connoisseur operates stations in Bloomington IL, Erie PA, Huntington WV, Omaha NE, Wichita KS, Des Moines IA, Rapid City SD, and Bismarck ND.
Terms of the deal were not released.
