Talk about a career start: after getting an electronics experimenting kit in elementary school, which sparked an interest in radio, Aldo Cugnini took a job as a summer-relief station engineer at WABC-AM and WPLJ-FM in New York. It was an era where Dan Ingram and Pat St. John were among the biggest names, respectively, at the ABC Radio properties.

Today, Cugnini is known for his “pivotal work” in positioning the ATSC 3.0 digital broadcast television standard as a international option. Now, the ATSC broadcast standards organization is honoring him for his achievements.
