Mick Hubert has called every Florida Gators college football game since the 1989 home opener at the University of Florida’s main campus.
Longtime fans expecting his signature “Oh My!” this fall will be at a loss, however.
Hubert is retiring, and will be devoting game days to his wife and their Sarasota home.
After 33 years calling Gators men’s athletics, Hubert on Thursday (5/19) announced his retirement.
He will conclude his time with UFlorida with the Gators’ collegiate baseball series in Gainesville versus the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
Hubert is widely known both in Gator Nation and in the Gem City of Dayton, Ohio. From 1979-1989, he was the Sports Director of WHIO-7, the dominant CBS affiliate owned by Cox Media Group.
There, Hubert called collegiate games for the University of Dayton’s football and men’s basketball teams.
According to WUSF Public Media, the Huberts have sold their Gainesville home and are bound for Sarasota next week.
