The comments came following the highly anticipated September Open Meeting of the FCC, during which the Commissioners voted 3-0 to begin its long-delayed process of starting its 2022 Quadrennial Review of its local media ownership rules.
Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Inc. pre-empting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” because the station ownership groups did not believe network programming supplied to them was fit for their viewers amounts to a “significant win” if the goal is to empower local TV stations to comply with their public interest obligations.
