Local News Live, which celebrated its fourth birthday in February as a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) network, is getting a boost from Gray Media by placing its 2pm Eastern afternoon newscast on 37 of its broadcast TV stations.

The one-hour newscast features top stories from local journalists in Gray newsrooms across the country and features anchor and national correspondent Debra Alfarone as host.

The newscast also focuses on the local impact of national and international stories, Gray’s Washington, D.C. Bureau contributing reports, too. Senior National Correspondent Peter Zampa will report live from New York on stories ranging from financial to world affairs in topic.

“Local News Live is uniquely positioned to deliver the stories the nation is talking about through a distinctly local lens,” said Lisa Allen, General Manager of Gray’s Washington Operations. “We are excited to increase our footprint and deliver impactful news and information to millions more viewers.”

Gray did not share which of its TV stations will offer Local News Live in the 2pm ET time slot. Local News Live was not seen in Savannah, Ga., as WTOC-11 was airing its signature coverage of the city’s massive St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. In Binghamton, N.Y., Beyond the Gates was airing in the 2pm hour on the CBS affiliate Gray owns, WBNG-12.

A Gray Media spokesperson shared on Tuesday morning that some markets cleared the show on their primary channel and other cleared the show on secondary channels. “It varies by market,” the company representative said.
