Lingering Benefits for Station-Selling University

SoldNorth Carolina’s WUNC Public Radio has been expanding its portfolio, and its latest acquisition will be in Fayetteville. It sweetened the deal with benefits above and beyond a cash payment. Broker: Patrick Communications (seller), Public Radio Capital (buyer)


The station is WFSS-FM Fayetteville NC.

The seller is Fayetteville State University, headed by Board Chair Donald Porter.

WUNC Public Radio LLC is headed by President Connie Walker.

The price is $1,750,000. $1,350,000 will be paid in cash. There is also non-cash consideration, in the form of provision of underwriting announcements on the station for the seller, a value of $400,000, or $3,333.33 per month for ten years. Additionally, the buyer will provide training opportunities for Fayetteville State U. students.

WFSS-FM is a Class C1 on 91.9 MHz with 100 kW @ 351’.
