Larry Morton Snags Two LPTV Permits From HC2

No, it’s not a wind-down of its TV operations. But, HC2 Holdings is paring down its assets as part of a capital-raising initiative. This explains why the company has been dominating the deal-making universe of late.

As part of that divestment of non-essential assets, it is agreeing to spin a pair of LPTV construction permits to Larry Morton, the prominent Little Rock broadcast media veteran.

Paperwork filed with the FCC shows that HC2-controlled licensee DTV America Corp. is agreeing to part ways with a pair of low-power television station construction permits to Morton’s KTV Media.

The stations are K36MT-D and K35LN-D in Paragould, Ark.

And, KTV Media is paying $20,000 for the CPs.

Morton is known for his years at the former Equity Communications, which fell into bankruptcy and saw its television holdings dispersed to numerous buyers. In recent years, Morton has reemerged as a buyer of radio and TV stations in the region.
