SANTA CLARITA, CALIF. — Tune to 1100 kHz in the southern San Joaquin Valley of California, and you’ll get a Spanish-language radio Class B radio station that serves as the Bakersfield affiliate of the Don Cheto radio program.
Will that continue, now that this AM with an FM translator is being sold?
That’s what many in the market may be wondering, as La Favorita Radio Network is selling KAFY-AM 1100 in Bakersfield and silent FM translator K222DH at 92.3 MHz in Delano, Calif.
The ultimate licensee will be AOTS Holdings, a San Fernando Valley-based entity led by President Boris Treyzon.
However, the majority shareholder will be Torres Media Group, wholly owned by U.S. citizen Socorro Torres. She resides in Taylor, Tex.
That’s because La Favorita, headed by Nelson Gomez, has structured the deal so that he will gain 5% ownership in Torres. In turn, Torres is assigning KAFY and K222DH to AOTS.
With the legal assistance of Dan J. Alpert, representing Gomez, and Abir Cohen Treyzon Sale attorney David Bederman assisting Torres and AOTS.
The new ownership structure will see Renata Salo with 10% equity ownership, Torres Media Group with 60% ownership, Farshid Abir with 10% equity ownership, and 10% equity ownership each going to Treyzon and Alexander Cohen.
The equity could be in lieu of cash payment for legal services rendered.
KAFY is licensed for 4,200 watts during daylight hours from 1 tower and 800 watts after dark from 3 towers; the broadcast facility is on Round Mountain Road in Choctaw Valley, near the Kern River and north of central Bakersfield.
