KalilCherry Creek Radio’s sale of 96.1 KSIQ-FM (now KYDO) Campo/San Diego to Educational Media Foundation has closed 2/4. KSIQ/KYDO now airs EMF’s Air1 Christian format operates at 25.0kW @ 102 HAAT. In the $1M deal, $50K was put in escrow, with balance in cash at closing. The FCC file date was 11/7/13.

Cherry Creek Radio is a Denver-based company headed by Joseph Schwartz. Cherry Creek owns 60 radio stations in 15 markets.

Educational Media Foundation is based in Rocklin, California, and is headed by President and CEO, Mike Novak.

KYDO is a move-in from Brawley, CA to the San Diego area. The station has a main transmitter site near Lake Morena (just west of Campo, CA), with a booster transmitter on Mount San Miguel.

Before changing calls in February 2014, the station was known as KSIQ. It was a commercial Class B radio station located in Brawley. It broadcast to the Imperial Valley, CA area at 50,000 watts. KSQI was playing EMF programming pursuant to a network affiliation agreement that activated 11/1/13. The NAA is EMF’s equivalent of a time brokerage agreement, allowing it to being programming the station prior to closing. KSIQ was previously Top 40 “Q96.”
