Hearst Television stations across the nation have joined Oklahoma City’s KOCO-TV in fund-raising and relief efforts for the victims of the devastating tornados of May 19th and 20th. Since the tornado disasters, nearly $1 million has been raised across multiple Hearst Television markets, with efforts continuing.

Partnering with national relief organizations in neighboring markets in Fort Smith, AR, Omaha, and Kansas City to communities as far away as Sacramento, Baltimore  and Greenville, SC television stations throughout the Hearst group have collected emergency supplies and nearly one million dollars to date.

“The tragic tornado of Moore, Oklahoma is another reminder of the critical public service role of local broadcast television stations,” said Hearst Television Inc. President Jordan Wertlieb. “From being first informers and providing public safety and recovery updates, to partnering with relief organizations, we are very proud of KOCO 5, the Hearst Television stations and broadcasters around the country that are working together to serve the public interest.”
