LOS ALAMOS, CALIF. — At the end of May, an AM radio station with a 5kw daytime signal and a directional 1kw nighttime signal, aided by an FM translator, went dark under Special Temporary Authority from the FCC. It was a tough decision made by Sandy Knight, whose husband Shawn Knight tragically died following a paragliding accident in June 2022.
Now, Knight Broadcasting has found a buyer for the properties.
KUHL-AM 1440 in Santa Maria, Calif., and K292HD in Los Alamos, just to the south of Santa Maria, are being acquired by Carlos Zuriel Rojas.
A Time Brokerage Agreement began on August 1, and Rojas is paying $60,000 for the properties.
Spanish-language programming is expected to air on the stations, with no return to the News/Talk offerings KUHL had been providing the market until three months ago.
Full payment of the station and its FM translator has been made in the form of an escrow deposit being held by Dennis J. Kelly.
