Alpha Broadcasting’s KINK-FM Portland is helping out the Oregon Food Bank on 6/29, 7am-7pm, with an online auction offering up items such as an autographed Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt guitar signed/framed Neil Young poster, signed Jamie Cullum toy piano, a VIP package to this year’s Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, a year’s worth of VIP passes into the KINK Live Performance Lounge and a flyaway to see Keane in the Bay Area along with an autographed guitar.  Many other one-of-a-kind items will be up for grabs and are available for viewing now at www.kink.fm.

A suggested daily donation of $10 plus two cans of food will help stock the shelves of the Oregon Food Bank which has seen fewer donations recently as a result of the economic downturn.   A robust line up this year, including Taj Mahal, John Mayall, Little Feat, Booker T, Curtis Salgado, Commander Cody and Bobby Rush will be among the 125 performances on four stages throughout the long July 4th holiday weekend, making this the largest blues festival west of the Mississippi.

“We are very excited about the auction items and being able to support our friends at the Oregon Food Bank,” commented KINK PD Dennis Constantine.  “It’s the perfect way to kick off another great year at the Blues Festival but also to highlight the great need by so many families right here in Oregon.”

The auction ties in with this weekend’s upcoming 23rd Annual Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival which kicks off on Friday. KINK.FM will broadcast live from the Festival throughout the holiday weekend, starting with Dave & Sheila in the morning on Friday July 2nd, 5am, followed by Steve Pringle, Brad Dolbeer and The Big BA with his Sunday Night Blues Show.  KINK will also provide and broadcast the musical soundtrack for the July 4th Fireworks display.
