Missouri Western State University has hired the Sports Director for an Eagle Communications-owned News/Talk radio station serving St. Joseph, Mo., as its first-ever Director of Broadcasting.

Tommy Rezac fills the role, and as such is departing KFEQ Radio and Eagle’s online St. Joseph Post local news offering.

Rezac will play what the school calls “a key role in enhancing all Griffon sporting events broadcast on The MIAA Network, along with the launch of the department’s online radio streaming service on gogriffons.com.”

This signals a shift to online-only coverage of the Griffon’s collegiate sports coverage from KFEQ, as Rezac has hosted team games on the Eagle AM with an FM translator.

Ryan Menley, Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Relations, commented, “We have built our digital brand over the years with an authentic, gritty and journalistic take on Griffon Athletics. Tommy’s addition is the key piece to completing the puzzle. He is a talented storyteller with a crucial role of providing the soundtrack for all Griffon sports.”

Missouri Western will produce close to 100 broadcasts on The MIAA Network and GLVC Network in 2024-25. Rezac will provide play-by-play commentary for most all home sporting events (football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse). He will also provide online radio-play-by-play for all Griffon road basketball and football games. Rezac will produce feature content for gogriffons.com, and serve as the primary host for the new weekly “Griffon Sports Insider” podcast.

Rezac previously worked with Doane University (NAIA) in Nebraska and the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
