In the City of Fountains and across the Kansas City metropolitan area, Reyes Media Group has established itself as the dominant source of Spanish-language audio entertainment and information for its growing Hispanic community.
Now, the FCC is being asked to approve the transfer of 50% ownership in the company to an estate, following the death of the family matriarch earlier this year.
On February 17, 2024, Clara Reyes passed away. She held 50% equity interest in Reyes Media, with heirs and estate co-executors Edward Reyes and Diana Raymer Reyes each holding 25% interest in the owner of regional Mexican KDTD-AM “La Grande 1340” in Kansas City, Kan., and KCZZ-AM 1480 in Mission, Kan.
Ed Reyes operates the group for the family, and acquired KDTD in March 2020 for $600,000 following several years of operating it via lease agreements with TBLC Holdings and, prior to that, Davidson Media Group. KCZZ became a regional Mexican sibling just weeks before Reyes closed on its KDTD acquisition.
The third regional Mexican AM in the market is also under Reyes Media Group control, as KYYS “La X 1250” is operated by the company through a LMA with licensee Audacy Inc.
Handling the FCC request to approve the transfer of Clara Reyes’ shares to an estate is Francisco Montero of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth.
