He’s a veteran local media leader who current serves in the dual roles of General Manager and Director of Sales at KPAX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Missoula, Mont., owned by The E.W. Scripps Co.

Now, he’s being promoted and will serve as the statewide General Manager for Scripps’ Montana Television Network.

That’s the umbrella entity comprised of Scripps-operated television stations serving the cities of Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula and Kalispell.

“Justin’s five years in Missoula have deepened his commitment to the people of Montana,” said Merri Hanson, a Scripps VP and regional GM. “He understands the communities, values local storytelling and will lead MTN with a focus on making a positive impact across the state.”

A native of Bakersfield, Hartley began his career with Scripps in 2014 as an account executive at KERO-TV, the company’s ABC affiliate in that market. He later served as a sales manager for the Nexstar’s crosstown KGET-TV before returning to KERO in 2018 as General Sales Manager, a role he held for three years. Hartley joined KPAX in 2021 as the Director of Sales.
