The Ingstad family has been a prolific owner of radio stations in the Great Plains, thanks to a legacy started by the late Robert Ingstad Jr.
In December 2016, his widow, Janice Ingstad, died. Now, several radio stations held in her name have been transferred to an estate controlled by one of her daughters.
According to a Public Notice released by the FCC on Friday (2/10), an involuntary transfer of control from Janice Ingstad to her estate — controlled by daughter Tanya Ingstad Knudson — has been seen for the following stations:
- KBUF-AM 1030 in Holcomb, Kan.
- KULY-AM 1420 in Ulysses, Kan.
- KDAK-AM 1600 in Carrington, N. Dakota
- KQDJ-AM 1400 in Jamestown, N. Dakota
- KGFX-AM 1060 in Pierre, S. Dakota
- KOLY-AM 1300 and FM 99.5 in Mobridge, S. Dakota
- KDDR-AM 1220 in Oakes, N. Dakota
- KOVC-AM 1490 in Valley City, N. Dakota
- KKJQ-FM 97.3 in Garden City, Kan.
- KSKZ-FM 98.1 in Copeland, Kan.
- KSSA-FM 105.9 in Ingalls, Kan.
- KULY-FM 106.7 in Hugoton, Kan.
- KWKR-FM 99.9 in Leoti, Kan.
- KQZZ-FM 96.7 in Crary, N. Dakota
- KXGT-FM 98.3 in Carrington, N. Dakota
- KYNU-FM 95.5 in Jamestown, N. Dakota

Also included in the transfer of control are translator K246AM in Jamestown, N. Dakota; K296FI in Pierre, S. Dakota; and K240CJ in Oakes, N. Dakota.
The Ingstad children are active owners of radio stations, taking on the family tradition through i3G Radio LLC. In Feb. 2016, the entity purchased an AM/FM combo in North Dakota: KQLX AM and FM which are licensed to Lisbon.
