InFOCUS Podcast: Pat Roberts

It’s been an eventful hurricane season for the Sunshine State, with Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton gaining national attention after making landfall in Florida this year. For the radio and television stations that are members of the Florida Association of Broadcasters, getting vital information to communities in times of need proved that local media is the top source when emergency strikes.

Pat Roberts, President/CEO of the FAB, recently joined RBR+TVBR Adam R Jacobson on the InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, to talk a little about the vital importance of live and local broadcasters to Florida.

We’re pleased to share the conversation once again as the 2024 hurricane season nears its close.

STORM STORIES, COMING NOVEMBER 11

Hurricane Milton, which pummeled much of Florida from October 9-10, was poised to wreak havoc on much of Florida’s Suncoast, with the worst feared for a wide swath of communities from Port Charlotte north through Clearwater and St. Petersburg. At the same time, the Orlando area and the Space Coast communities of Melbourne, Cocoa and Titusville were in the storm’s path.

Two Hearst Television stations worked hard to ensure their respective audiences were kept up to date with storm information across the event. Darrel Lieze-Adams, VP/Station Manager of WBBH-2 and WZVN-7 in Fort Myers-Naples; and John Soapes, President/GM of WESH-2 and WKCF-18 in Orlando, share their stories in the Fall 2024 issue of the Radio + Television Business Report quarterly magazine.

The Fall edition is distributed digitally to all subscribers on November 11.
