The nation’s No. 1 owner of radio stations has selected its new Market President for the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater market. It’s choice for the job: It’s 23-month Market President for its West Palm Beach station group.
Now overseeing the stations is Chris Soechtig, an iHeart veteran who served as the company’s corporate SVP/Sales Operations for 6 1/2 years until taking over the West Palm Beach cluster in February 2016.
Now, he’ll oversee Active Rock WXTB-FM 97.9, Top 40 WFLZ-FM 93.3, Country WFUS-FM 103.5, AC WMTX-FM 100.7, Urban WBTP-FM 95.7 “The Beat,” Sports WDAE-AM 620, News/Talk WFLA-AM 970, Talk WHNZ-AM 1250 “Impact Radio,” and Sarasota-based Tropical WRUB-FM 106.5, branded as “Rumba.”
Soechtig reports to Linda Byrd, President of iHeartMedia’s North Florida Region.
Soechtig knows a thing or two about the Tampa Bay market: He served as iHeartRadio/Tampa Director of Sales from February 2007-October 2009, and as the cluster’s GSM from February 2001.
“I am thrilled to bring Chris home to Tampa Bay,” said Byrd. “He’s back where he started his career. Chris is an amazing leader with a track record of success in every position he has held in iHeartMedia. We’re so happy to have him on the North Florida Region team.”
Soechtig said, “I’m honored to be selected as Market President and beyond excited to return to my hometown of Tampa to lead our talented iHeartMedia team. We have an amazing brand portfolio and a long history of success. I look forward to building on that success well into the future.”
