He’s served as a Member in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013 and has been named the 12th most conservative Member of the House by National Journal, “demonstrating a commitment to delivering results without compromising principles.” Now, this politician representing a rural swath of North Carolina that includes portions of Fayetteville, Asheboro and Sanford is being placed in a position of high authority when it comes to the fate of the FCC.
Introducing Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), who is poised to become Chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee’s Communications and Technology Subcommittee.
Commenting on X late Friday, Hudson said, “Working together with President Trump and [House E&C Committee] Chairman-Elect Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), we will advance strong, commonsense policies that put America First.”
In an official statement, Guthrie shared, “I look forward to working with Congressman Hudson in his role as Chair of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. Richard’s expertise will help propel our country into the next generation economy. Under Congressman Hudson’s leadership, the Communications and Technology Subcommittee will close the digital divide for rural America, affirm U.S. leadership in next generation telecommunication networks, and protect our critical communications infrastructure from adversarial attacks.”
Hudson’s district, the Ninth, includes Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg). He’s been a steadfast supporter of his military constituents, while also notable for his Second Amendment rights stance when it comes to limitations on firearms ownership.
“As a Christian and father, Rep. Hudson defends the right to life,” his bio reads; he has consistently been awarded the “True Blue” award from the Family Research Council Action and a 100% rating from National Right to Life.
With his appointment as Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chair, Hudson shifts from the Subcommittee on Health. Bob Latta (R-Ohio), who has been the Chair of the Subcommittee across the 118th Congress, will now chair the Subcommittee on Energy in the 119th Congress.
ALLEN TO ASSIST HUDSON
Taking the role of Vice Chairman of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee is Rep. Rick Allen (R-Ga).

Also commenting on X, Allen said, “I look forward to leading efforts, alongside Chairman-Elect Guthrie and Hudson to reauthorize the FCC’s spectrum auction authority, enact broadband permitting reform, reform Section 230, combat robocalls, and protect our communications infrastructure.”
Reauthorization of spectrum auction authority has emerged as a key talking point and priority for many in Washington, including incoming FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
In a formal statement, Allen said, “We have much work to do over the next two years, including promoting the great work that is sure to come from the Trump Administration. Additionally, as many communities in Georgia continue to face significant challenges with connectivity and reliable broadband access, we will prioritize efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural America. I am grateful for this opportunity.”
Allen represents the 12th Congressional District of Georgia, which includes Augusta, Statesboro, Vidalia, and Dublin.
