This week “America’s Got Talent” judge Howard Stern said he felt “so evil” that he threatened to quit. When 7-year-old rapper Mir Money took the stage on the 5/21 episode and started performing, it was only a few seconds before Stern hit the “X” and voted for him to move on.
With Mir Money tearing up on stage, Stern climbed the stairs to hug him, saying, “No one likes hitting the ‘X’ on a 7-year-old. You’re very brave to get up there at 7 years old…I’ve met many great rappers I’m on the radio I interview them none of them are quite as good as you.”
When the boy left the stage, Stern was pretty upset: “I’m not cut out for this…I’m shaking…I can’t do it. Radio is for me. I made a mistake — this isn’t for me.”
In the end, Stern voted yes to send Mir Money to the next round of the show in Las Vegas, but fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel voted no.
RBR-TVBR observation: Hey, what can Stern do but what he did—the right thing. He was trying to be objective as a judge, but now has learned there’s a lot more to it. It’s a big transition to do shock jock radio and then judge of a music competition where emotions run very high. If nothing else, we don’t think anyone will have to worry about Stern saying anything crude or controversial now.
