Phill Sohn and his RK Media Group is paying $790K to enter the Honolulu HI radio market with KHRA-AM. The seller is KMC Broadcasting LLC, headed by Tony Young Ho Kim. An LMA will be in place until closing in the cash deal. Sohn already has a 30% interest in an AM station in what is technically one of the nearest Arbitron markets to Honolulu. However, that doesn’t make it close at hand. The station is KMPC-AM in Los Angeles, licensed to P&Y Broadcasting Corporation. So there will be quite a bit of Pacific Ocean between the two stations.
