Home Improvement Retailers Can’t Be Quieted At Spot Radio

There are two big takeaways from the latest Media Monitors Spot Ten Radio report.

First, the home improvement retailer category continues to be one of the biggest for AM and FM radio stations, considering the total number of spots aired on the stations monitored by the iHeartMedia-owned research firm

The second involves QSRs, and the use of spot radio in the last week by two big hamburger chains.

For the week ending June 16, The Home Depot was again a huge user of spot radio, with some 68,941 spots tracked by Media Monitors.

Competitor Lowe’s was a distant No. 2 when subtracting iHeart ads, which could involve internal spot placement on the company’s owned stations and are thus not considered by RBR+TVBR to be equal to fully paid advertising.

McDonald’s is right behind Lowe’s with some 35,771 spot plays, while QSR competitor Wendy’s surges thanks to 24,378 spot plays.
