Tennessee-based Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation is selling an AM and FM station as well as an FM translator. WUKZ(AM) and WMEV-FM are licensed to Marion, Virginia and the FM translator to nearby Rural Retreat, Virginia.
Bristol, Virginia-based Bristol Broadcasting Company is the buyer. Lisa Nininger Bouldin holds 100% of the assets.
Though Holston operates digital TV station WAPW-CD, Abingdon/Washington County, Virginia, from the WMEV-FM transmitter site, the TV station and its transmission equipment are excluded from the sale. The buyer and seller will work out an agreement that enables Holston to continue to operate the TV station from the site for 5 years rent-free. Holston would continue to pay the electric bill for the TV station and maintain its equipment.
The total price for the radio stations and translator is $1.75 million cash, paid either via wire transfer or cashier’s check.
WUKZ is a Class D AM transmitting 1,000 watts day/35 watts night from a single tower; it operates on 1010kHz.
WMEV is a Class C FM with an ERP of 100,000 watts @ 1,483’ HAAT; it operates on 93.0 MHz.
