When it came time to select the next Director of Sales for Cox Media Group’s radio stations in San Antonio, it ultimately went with a former Drill Instructor and a six-year special investigator and SWAT officer with the Greenville, N.C. police department.

As of Sept. 17, the CMG job in the Alamo City goes to Ken Newman.

Newman boasts more than 16 years of executive sales and business management experience, noted by CMG/San Antonio VP/GM David Abel.

“Ken brings a wealth of industry knowledge and sales expertise to his new role, making him the ideal sales leader for our market,” Abel said. “Our clients expect the very best from CMG and I am confident our teams will continue to deliver exceptional service under Ken’s leadership.”

From January 2014-June 2017, Newman was a Regional VP for Hearst, serving the East Coast, North Carolina and East Texas regions. He most recently served as CEO of DMA, a digital marketing agency headquartered in Naples, Fla.

CMG’s local stations are comprised of Oldies KONO-AM, Classic Hits KONO-FM, Classic Country KKYX, Hot AC KSMG-FM “Magic 105.3,” Country KCYY-FM “Y100,” and “The Eagle 106.7,” Classic Rock KTKX.

“Our primary focus is and will continue to be driving the best results for our clients by focusing on the needs and desires of their business,” Newman said. “I look forward to continuing to provide best-in-class services and working with this outstanding team we have in San Antonio.”
