A Gray Media CBS affiliate serving Eastern Kentucky is welcoming a News Director. In fact, he’ll be just the seventh person to hold the role at WYMT-TV, starting January 19, 2026.
Earning the role is Josh White, and he’s been tasked with overseeing the newsroom operations, editorial direction and a multi-platform news strategy for WYMT, which serves Hazard, Ky., and nearby communities.
Since 2022, White has served as marketing and social media manager for Magic Monograms in Somerset, Ky. He previously held the ND role at Gray Media’s KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Ark., and has also been an Assistant ND at WFIE-TV in Evansville, Ind.
White is also a veteran of WYMT, making this a return.
“It’s an honor to return to WYMT and carry on the tradition that so many others have done before … telling Your Mountain News,” White said. “From Ralph Gabbard to Tony Turner to Neil Middleton, I look forward to telling the stories of the people of Eastern Kentucky. I’m excited to jump back into the news mix and teach proper journalism to journalists.”
White succeeds Jennifer K. Perkins, who served as ND since 2023.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh back to our area,” said Jaime Kawaja, President/GM of WYMT and sibling WKYT-27 in Lexington, Ky. “His deep newsroom experience, proven leadership and digital-first approach will strengthen our coverage and help WYMT better serve viewers across the region.”
