Since 1991, a longtime Twin Cities radio programming pro has been associated with Country “K102” and the group of stations today comprising iHeartMedia‘s Minneapolis cluster. Now, with iHeartMedia reduction-in-force reports permeating several radio industry trade publications, the company has confirmed that this veteran “will be transitioning to a new strategic advisor role.”

Gregg Swedberg‘s new role will focus on assisting with iHeartMedia Country projects. He’ll continue to be part of the company’s Minneapolis-St. Paul team — home to KEEY-FM “K102” — and helping with the transition. It’s a promotion, and the move results in Rich Davis taking the role of Senior VP of Programming for Minneapolis and, concurrently, the Program Director post at K102.

“I’m looking forward to having the unique opportunity to help lots of stations in iHeartCountry and assisting Rich and Chad with this transition,” said Swedberg. “I can’t wait for Nashville to embrace Rich, which I know they will. The iHeart Minneapolis team will just keep on winning.”

Davis has been Program Director of Top 40 clustermate KDWB-FM 101.3 since 2016. Prior to that he headed up programming for stations owned by iHeartMedia in Seattle and Nashville.

Swedberg was inducted in June into the Country Radio Hall of Fame. He landed at Country WDGY-AM and KEEY-FM at the start of 1991, following a run at former Emmis Communications Top 40 WLOL-FM in Minneapolis.
