Gray Gives GM Chair To Veteran Walker

Gray Television station that it acquired from Hoak Media in November 2013 — one with NBC programming on its main signal and CBS programming on its DT-2 signal — has selected a longtime news director to serve as ND and GM of the operation.

Taking the dual roles at KVLY-11 and KVLY-11.2 “KX4” in the Fargo, N.D., market is Ike Walker.

Walker has been News Director for the stations since 2012, prior to Gray’s closing of the property.

His career includes stints in station and news management positions in such markets as Columbus, Ohio; Topeka, Kan.; Savannah, Ga.; and Tulsa.

In a statement, Gray said Walker is uniquely qualified to take over in Fargo, “because under his leadership, Valley News Live has become the dominant, No. 1 news leader for the eastern half of North Dakota. He is a highly respected leader with a clear vision for stations. His steady and strategic orientation will serve the Fargo market well.”
