VAMPIRE DIARIES Continues its Hot Streak, Winning the Hour with Young Women; SUPERNATURAL Matches Season High with Adults 18-34

SMALLVILLE Soars to Season High in Total Viewers, Ranking First in Time Period with Young Men

Boosted by solid performances across the schedule, The CW posted year-to-year increases for the week ending 11/15/09, as well as the November Sweeps period and Season-to-Date.

For the recently completed week, The CW improved over the same week last year (week ending 11/6/09) by 12% in women 18-34 (1.9/5), 17% in adults 18-34 (1.4/4), 15% in women 18-49 (1.5/4), 10% in adults 18-49 (1.1/3) and 10% in total viewers (2.3mil).

Through 18 days of the November 2009 Sweep, The CW remains on the rise compared to Nov. 2008, gaining 27% in women 18-34 (1.9/5), 17% in adults 18-34 (1.4/4), 25% in women 18-49 (1.5/4), 20% in adults 18-49 (1.2/3) and 14% in total viewers (2.5mil), based on “most current” data, 10/29/09-11/15/09 v. 10/30/08-11/16/08.

Season-to-date, The CW also continues to deliver year-to-year growth, including 11% in women 18-34 (2.1/6), 7% in adults 18-34 (1.5/4) and 7% in women 18-49 (1.6/4), based on “most current” data (combining Live+SD and Live+7 for this season and last when available).

MONDAY – 11/9/09
ONE TREE HILL and GOSSIP GIRL combined to score the network’s most watched Monday of the season (2.67mil) and matched its season best in adults 18-49 (1.3/3) and women 18-49 (1.9/5).

ONE TREE HILL reached a new season high in total viewers (2.67mil) and women 18-49 (1.9/5) and tied its season best in women 18-34 (2.6/7), adults 18-34 (1.7/5) and adults 18-49 (1.9/5).  GOSSIP GIRL delivered its second best adults 18-49 of the season (behind only the season premiere), and matched its best adults 18-34 and women 18-34 ratings in 6 weeks (since 9/28/09).

TUESDAY – 11/10/09
90210 tied its season high in adults 18-34 (1.7/5) and adults 18-49 (1.2/3), while matching its second best ratings of the season in women 18-34 (2.5/7) and women 18-49 (1.7/4), just 0.1 behind the season high in each demo.

90210 was up versus the previous week’s original telecast by 14% in women 18-34, 13% in adults 18-34, 21% in women 18-49, 20% in adults 18-49 and 7% in total viewers (2.1mil).

THURSDAY – 11/12/09
The CW’s freshman hit VAMPIRE DIARIES continued its hot streak against all original sweeps competition, matching its second highest rated telecast ever in women 18-34 (3.1/9) and adults 18-34 (2.3/7). 

VAMPIRE DIARIES won the 8-9pm hour in women 18-34 (3.1/9), females 12-34 (3.0/9) and female teens (2.4/9).  VAMPIRE ranked second in the hour among persons 12-34 (2.2/7-tie) and teens (1.9/6).

SUPERNATURAL matched its best adults 18-34 (1.5/4) performance of the season, and scored its second best ratings this season in adults 18-49 (1.3/3).

With VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL, The CW’s matched its best Thursday of the season in adults 18-34 (1.9/5).  The CW Thursday’s also scored its second best women 18-34 (2.3/6) ratings and second largest audience (3.4mil) this season.

Compared to a year ago, The CW improved its Thursday night by 109% in women 18-34, 46% in adults 18-34 (1.9/5), 67% in women 18-49 (2.0/5), 14% in adults 18-49 (1.6/4) and 55% in female teens (1.7/6).

FRIDAY – 11/13/09
The CW’s SMALLVILLE climbed higher this week, scoring its largest audience (2.7mil) of the season and matching season highs in adults 18-34 (1.2/5) and adults 18-49 (1.2/4).

SMALLVILLE won its time period among men 18-34 (1.4/6) and males 12-34 (1.2/5), and ranked second in adults 18-34 (1.2/5), persons 12-34 (1.1/4) and men 18-49 (1.3/5-tie).
