In early February, the Jeff Andrulonis-led Colonial Radio Group said farewell to an AM and three associated FM translators serving the Myrtle Beach, S.C., market.

On Monday, the transaction closed, putting the facilities in the hands of an individual intent on serving Spanish-speaking listeners by debuting a regional Mexican format.

With George Kimble of Kozacko Media Services serving as the broker in this transaction, Gorilla Broadcasting is now the owner of the following stations:

  • WNMB-AM 900 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
  • W279EH at 103.7 MHz
  • W255BZ at 98.9 MHz
  • W272CV at 102.3 MHz

Gorilla, led by Steven Lara, agreed to pay $400,000 for the stations.

Lara, the operator of “El Gallo Radio,” also recently acquired

WLEL-FM 94.3 in Ellavile, Ga., branded as “El Gallo.” The station covers an agricultural area of Georgia between Columbus, to the west, and Warner Robbins, to the northeast.

With the transaction, Andrulonis’ assets in Myrtle Beach, ranked No. 130 by Nielsen Audio, are reduced to WJXY-AM and three associated FM translators.
