Golden Mike Gala Honors Former FCC Chair, FOX TV Stations Head

NEW YORK — More than 250 broadcast media executives and celebrities on Monday night feted the former Chairman of the FCC and one of the most prominent media and telecommunications attorneys. They also honored the Chief Executive Officer of FOX Television Stations, who received the prestigious 2023 Golden Mike Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.


Receiving the Golden Mike is the individual who placed at No. 1 on RBR+TVBR’s Broadcast Television’s Best Leaders rankings in 2022, Jack Abernethy. 

Meanwhile, the 2023 Edward F. McLaughlin Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Richard E. “Dick” Wiley.

Abernethy and Wiley were saluted at the Plaza Hotel at an annual gala fundraiser to benefit the Broadcasters Foundation, which provides financial assistance to broadcasters in acute need.

More than a dozen broadcast celebrities participated in the festivities, including Fox & Friends commentator and journalist Steve Doucy; Deborah Norville, host of Inside Edition and a member of the Broadcasters Foundation’s Board of Directors; Sid Rosenberg, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Rita Cosby, Frank Morano and Dominic Carter from John A. Catsimatidis-owned WABC Radio and the Red Apple Audio Networks; iHeartRadio talent Angela Yee; WHTZ “Z100” air personality Maxwell from Z100; Mark Simone of iHeartMedia News/Talk WOR-AM in New York; and Damon Amendolara from CBS Sports Radio Network.
