Magnum Wraps Up National Ad Rep Deal

The owner of 16 radio stations in Wisconsin has just finalized an exclusive national ad sales representation deal for its properties.

Who did Magnum.Media select for the task?

GMPT Media, the joint venture between Gen Media Partners and The Tacher Company.

Magnum.Media is the radio broadcasting company founded by Dave Magnum.  “We’re enthused about Gen Media Partners and Tacher joining forces,” he said. “GMPT is bullish on radio and so are we.”

Magnum began operations in 1991, with just a license.

“Their steady growth is proof in the pudding that they know how to help their advertising clients grow because one is predicated upon the other,” says Joe Costello of GMPT. “Magnum’s original goal was to stretch across the I-90 and I-94 interstate system from the shore of the Mississippi River to the shore of Lake Michigan. With their acquisition three years ago of four Milwaukee stations they achieved it.”

Magnum.Media’s holdings are comprised of an AM with two FM translators and a full-powered FM station serving the Kenosha and Racine area, south of Milwaukee; an AM with an FM translator and an FM serving the northern portion of the Milwaukee area; WAUN-FM and its two translators serving Sturgeon Bay and Green Bay; an AM and two FMs in the LaCrosse area; and eight stations in the Wisconsin Dells resort region.

GMPT Media plans to announce additional national sales representation partnerships in the coming months.

Gen Media Partners is the largest independently owned radio rep firm in the U.S. and one of the largest multi-platform organizations in radio. It is built on heritage firms McGavren Guild Media and Local Focus Radio and grew through strategic acquisitions that include HRN Media Network, an alignment with MG Malls, and an alliance with The Tacher Company.

Gen Media Partners specializes in representing Independent, General Market and Hispanic broadcasters and operates 15 offices across the country, including in New York and Los Angeles.
