Gettysburg Address Comes To K-Love

It’s a city etched into the fabric of American history and today home to an AM radio station with an FM translator branded as “Happy 93.7.” Soon, these facilities and a nearby Class A FM covering the Harrisburg and York, Pa., markets, will be woven into the expansive network of noncommercial Christian Contemporary stations under the K-LOVE banner.

A pair of asset purchase agreements signed on Tuesday (4/29) and filed Wednesday for FCC regulatory approval have the details surrounding the proposed deal, which will see K-LOVE acquire WPPK-FM 92.7 in Starview, Pa.; and WGET-AM 1320 in Gettysburg, Pa., and FM translator partner W229DK from Forever Media.

Technically, WPPK is being sold by “FM Radio Licenses LLC,” an entity linked to Forever. It is being sold for $385,000, and a $19,250 deposit has been made. This will undoubtedly mean the end of “Happy 92.7,” airing a Hot Adult Contemporary format.

For WGET and its FM translator, a $50,000 purchase price has been agreed to, with a $2,500 deposit paid to Forever, led by Lynn Deppen.

Serving as Forever Media’s broker of record in the WGET transaction is Beth Griffin.

Upon closing, WPPK and WGET/W229DK will join WKHL-FM 92.1 in Palmyra, Pa., as a sibling. It is unclear as to whether WPPK will simulcast WKHL. However WKHL cannot reach York or Gettysburg with its signal contour.
