Among the many pioneers of Hispanic radio broadcasting in the U.S. is George Arroyo, President of Q Broadcasting Corp.
He operates such Spanish-language radio stations as WPSP-AM in West Palm Beach, WAMA-AM & WTIS-AM in Tampa, and two AMs serving the Orlando market.
Now, Q is adding a third AM in Central Florida.
Trading hands is WLBE-AM 790, a presently dark facility licensed to Leesburg, Fla., to the northwest of Orlando.
It is licensed for 5kw day from 1 tower, and 1kw at night from 2 towers.
With the AM comes an unbuilt FM translator.
The seller is WLBE 790 Inc., led by Wendy Wolf.
The purchase price is $75,000; a $10,000 escrow payment has been made.
Financial difficulties led WLBE to fall silent, as of June 6. The station had operated since 1948.
