Great American Country (GAC) will debut Backstory, the only biographical documentary series devoted to the lives of country music’s top stars today at 8:00 pm/eastern. The premiere episode features multi-platinum RCA recording artist Sara Evans whose career began in her Booneville, Missouri, hometown when she was just five years old.

In addition to a relaxed, in-depth interview with Evans, fans will learn about her life and career from those closest to her including her mother, her husband, her record label head, her co-writers and her close friend, Sheryl Crow. She shares memories of growing up on stage, recovering from a serious accident and pursuing what she says has always been her dream: performing country music.

“We’ve wanted to launch a series of this type for a long time,” says Sarah Trahern, SVP of programming for GAC. “We’re thrilled to be able to give our viewers exclusive information on the artists they love to watch.”  Future episodes of Backstory are currently being shot and the next artist featured will be Darius Rucker.
