TORONTO — Until July of last year, he was the Head of Audio Business and VP of Media for Rogers Sports & Media, the entity that just shuttered all of its all-News radio stations outside of CFTR-AM. Now, he has resurfaced at Pattison Media, one of the largest audio brand operators in Western Canada.
Paul Kaye will serve as President, and will succeed Rod Schween, who is retiring. Schween spent 14 years in the role, and was largely tied to the leadership team that expanded Pattison to more than 50 radio stations and two TV stations.
Schween will remain with the company in a part-time capacity, handling key projects and regulatory advocacy.
Kaye has a rich history in Canadian broadcasting, and joined Rogers in May 2016 as VP of Product & Talent. Before that, he served as National Director of Talent Development at Newcap Radio, rising from Operations Manager of the company’s then-Vancouver and Calgary assets.
Kaye arrived in Canada from the UK, where he spent time on-air and in programming roles at predecessor stations to Heart, Capital and Hits Radio affiliates in Wales and in England.
His pending arrival at Pattison comes following a year-long break from his career, with “intentional time” to travel and study.
