On November 8, 2023, a group of radio stations and their respective FM translators ceased operations, as financial liabilities proved to be too much for the licensees. Now, the bankruptcy trustee representing the two entities, which operated as one unit, has successfully secured an asset sale of the stations and FM translators.
This puts the wheels in motion on a Texarkana FM resurrection.
Pending FCC approval, E Radio Network LLC is poised to become the new owner of the following stations licensed to Freed AM Corp.:
- KTRG-FM in Hooks, Tex.
- KKTK-AM and K246CR in Texarkana, Tex.
Concurrently, MLS Broadcasting Inc. is assigning the following stations to E Radio Network:
- KHGZ-AM, K255BH and K300DJ in Glenwood, Ark.
- KNCB-AM & FM and K281CY in Vivian, La.
This is the result of a December 2023 Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing from Freed and MLS, led by Robert Delgiorno, and the bankruptcy court’s March 2024 approval of the sale of the stations to E Radio.
A $325,000 purchase price has been agreed upon by the parties and the court.
A $25,000 earnest money deposit has been made; $6,900 in filing fees are associated with the transfer of control request.
Dave Garland listed the stations as its broker in fall 2023.
E Radio Network is led by Christie Tate. It is the licensee of KGVL-AM in Greenville, Tex.; KIKT-FM in Cooper, Tex., and FM translators in Caddo Mills and in Commerce, Tex.
MLS and Freed are still in control of KPYN-AM 900 and two FM translators in Atlanta, Tex. These are expected to be sold to another party.
