With the season premieres of its Sunday ANIMATION DOMINATION favorites, FOX delivered the #1 and #2 entertainment programs of the night (FAMILY GUY and THE SIMPSONS) and won the night among Teens.

At 8p the season premiere of THE SIMPSONS posted a 3.8/10 in the core adult demo, up +3% from last year’s premiere (vs. 3.7/10 on 9/26/10).

The season premieres of THE CLEVELAND SHOW at 8:30p (3.1/7) and AMERICAN DAD at 9:30p (3.0/7) delivered the same premiere ratings as they did last year (on 9/26/10 and 10/3/10, respectively).

At 9pm, the premiere of FAMILY GUY posted a 4.1/9 among Adults 18-49, down -9% from its one-hour premiere last year (4.5/11 on 9/26/10). In fact, in the 9p hour, FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD combined to outperform the season premiere of ABC’s Desperate Housewives by +13% among Adults 18-49 (3.5/8 vs. 3.1/7).

Competition

On ABC, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition returned with a special telecast at 7p (1.3/4) and its season premiere at 8p (2.3/6), down -8% vs. its year-ago performance (2.5/7 on 9/26/10). At 9p, the final season of Desperate Housewives opened with a 3.1/7, down -28% from its premiere last season (4.3/10 on 9/26/10). Closing out the night, the series debut of Pan Am (3.1/8) was in line with Brothers & Sisters’ premiere in the time period last fall (2.9/8 on 9/26/10).

Due to NFL overruns in 10% of the country, Fast Nationals for CBS are approximate. Following 60 Minutes (2.6/7), the season premiere of CBS’ The Amazing Race (3.0/7) fell -21% from its year-ago performance (3.8/9 on 9/26/10).  At 9p, the Sunday premiere of The Good Wife posted a 2.2/5, down -12% from its premiere last season (2.5/7 on Tue. 9/28/10). CSI: Miami (2.2/5) finished the night with its lowest rated premiere ever, down -31% versus its premiere last season (3.2/8 on 10/3/10).

Due to the nature of live sports, Fast Nationals for NBC are approximate. In addition, note that NBC’s 7p NFL Pre-Game will be sustained by Nielsen. Following Football Night In America at 7p (1.9/5), 730p (3.4/9) and 8p (5.9/15), NBC’s Sunday Night Football Game 3: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts posted a 7.2/17 from 8:30-11p, down from last week’s Sunday night matchup (PHI Eagles vs. ATL Falcons), which delivered a 9.2/22 from 8:30-11p in the Fast Nationals before rising to a 10.0/25 from 8:31-11:47p in the Finals.
