Former ‘CW26’ Leader Joins TEGNA’s Charlotte Operation

From October 2016 through April 2021, he served as the Head of Local Programming and Creative for Weigel Broadcasting-owned WCIU-TV in Chicago, today known as “CW26” after it secured The CW Network affiliation following its removal from WGN-9.


From August 2010-January 2016, before a short tenure as a Programming and Affiliate Marketing Director for Media General in Los Angeles, he served as Creative Services Director for WDTN-2 and WBDT-26 in Dayton, hired by LIN Television.

As of June 5, this local TV veteran is headed to Charlotte, to take a role at TEGNA‘s NBC affiliate in the market.

Steve Bailey will serve as Marketing Director for WCNC-36 in Charlotte. He will be responsible for overseeing the station’s marketing operations across platforms and the locally produced lifestyle show Charlotte Today.

Rob Dwyer, the former Marketing Director for WCNC, recently was named by TEGNA as President/GM of its KCEN-TV and KAGS-TV in Waco, Texas.

Bailey has been the Chief Operating Officer of Orlando-based KSA Entertainment for the past 21 months. KSA is a producer of original content for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Bailey began his career in media in the sales department at WSTR-TV in Cincinnati under Sinclair Broadcast Group ownership.

 


Bailey graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
