A Class A FM and its 1kw Class C AM serving the city of Brattleboro, Vt., have found themselves a new owner, pending regulatory approval of a deal that by its very name assures they stay locally operated.
Who’s the buyer? Don’t ask Howie Carr.
WTSA-AM & FM and W258DQ are being acquired by Community Media, based in nearby Keene, N.H., from Four Seasons Media, a Brattleboro-headquartered entity led by Kelli Corbeil.
Community Media is led by President Jared Goodell, and he hired D.C. veteran communications law attorney Gregg Skall of Telecommunications Law Professionals to handle the FCC paperwork on his behalf.
A $500,000 purchase price has been agreed to by the parties, with Daly & Daly holding a 10% escrow deposit.
At closing, Corbeil will be employed full-time by Community Media and earn an annual salary of $100,000.
If Goodell’s name sounds familiar, it could be due to his November 2018 lawsuit against veteran New England talk host Howie Carr that accused the columnist and on-air personality of violating a no-contact agreement and attempting to hack Goodell’s Uber account.
Goodell was Operations Manager of The Howie Carr Show from 2016 through February 2018, and filed a complaint in a New Hampshire federal court seeking damages of some $800,000.
Otherwise, Goodell is known as a host of a talk show that aired on WFEA-AM in Manchester, N.H. from August 2015 to April 2016 and for a 4 1/2 year run with Saga Communications, working at stations in Keene and Manchester, N.H., and in Brattleboro, Vt.
Goodell also attracted attention for penning an October 2024 opinion piece in the Keene Sentinel titled, “Glad I got out of radio when I did.”
Less than one year later, a man who 15 years ago was a Team Leader at a Target retail store is preparing to be back in the business.
