George S. Flinn Jr. is widely known across the media broadcasting industry for his ownership of radio and TV stations in Mississippi, the Memphis market, and in Arkansas.
But, he’s also had a presence in the Silver State, where he owns an AM and an FM.
The AM, which serves the “biggest little city in the world” and the state capital, is now being sold.
The station being divested by Flinn is Class C KNNR-AM 1400, licensed to Sparks, Nev., and serving the Reno market with 1kw from 1 tower.
The buyer of KNNR, and FM translator K277DL in Washoe Valley, Nev., is 1400 Investments LLC, an operation led by Fred Weinberg and Floyd Brown.
Weinberg and Brown hold attributable interest in Ely Radio, the license of KELY-AM 1230 in Ely, Nev.
This sheds some light on why the deal is being consummated: KNNR is a 24/7 simulcast partner of KELY, which operates as the “Nevada Talk Network.”
The purchase price is $100,000. Half of the funds due have been made in a deposit to the seller.
