The Lakeland-Winter Haven-Auburndale area of Central Florida continues to grow, and given its locale between Tampa and Orlando, there are few local media choices.
Among them are AM radio stations licensed to WALCO Enterprises, led by Ferris Waller.
Add another property to that kHz-band mix of properties in Waller’s stable.
Waller’s WALCO is agreeing to purchase presently dark WSIR-AM 1490 in Winter Haven, Fla. from Anscombe Broadcasting Group Ltd., led by Steven Reszka.
Anscombe is pocketing $47,500 from the station’s sale, with all funds due as a deposit with one important clause — should Anscombe withdraw from the deal for any reason or fail to close, $10,000 will be considered liquidated damages.
The parties agree that the Station Assets shall be allocated $27,500 for the equipment and $20,000 for the FCC License.
If approved by the Commission, WSIR, with 1kw from 1 tower, will join a group of properties comprised of WWAB-AM 1330 in Lakeland; and WHNR-AM 1360 in Cypress Gardens, Fla.
Other properties owned by Waller include WKFL-AM 1170, licensed to Bushnell, Fla., and WFHT-AM 1390 and FM translator W298BU in Avon Park, serving Sebring.
