FCC’s Simington Goes To Gotham For New Chief of Staff

With the change in leadership at the White House that came in late January, the man who had served as Chief of Staff for Republican FCC Commissioner Adam Cassady became the  Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Deputy Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

Thanks to Instagram — and a politically left-of-center publication’s report — we now know who is succeeding Cassady, and liberals are incensed.

Adam Wax is already referring to himself as Nathan Simington‘s Chief of Staff and his Senior Advisor at the FCC, sharing a picture of the FCC’s emblem on his Instagram page along with the title ahead of an official announcement from the agency. Wax’s LinkedIn page also sports his new duties, updated three days ago (4/18), and the FCC quietly added Wax’s information to a staff page under the “About The FCC” tab.

On that FCC page, the Commission noted that Wax provides strategic counsel, manages Simington’s office, and supports policy development and external engagement. “He has advised senior policymakers, led high-impact communications efforts, and built coalitions to advance regulatory and national security priorities,” the FCC said. “Wax focuses on issues including free speech, spectrum policy, emerging technologies, national security, and market-driven approaches to connectivity such as satellite internet. He is a frequent media commentator on technology, regulation, and public policy.”

It became known on April 6 that Wax had resigned as President of the New York Young Republicans Club, concluding a six-year run that saw Wax build the club into one of the strongest in the nation. Wax remains involved as Chairman.

Wax, who proposed on March 31, 2024 in Central Park to Chelsea Hall and welcomed their first child on September 26, 2024, has gained a national reputation as a conservative political strategist. On television, he’s become a familiar figure to Newsmax viewers. On his blog, Wax recently penned opinion pieces suggesting President Trump’s tariffs “could revive American industry” while noting a targeted approach is needed to win a trade war with the People’s Republic of China.

Wax holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Nassau Community College and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from Baruch College. His earliest professional experience includes roles in eCommerce, and from January 2016 through the end of 2017 was a Search and Social Manager for Mindshare, a GroupM agency.

In November 2019, Wax exited the advertising world for a job as Marketing Director for American Jewish Congress (AJC), an alternative to AIPAC. From there, he returned to the ad world as a digital marketing strategist and in December 2022 showed his political leanings professionally for the first time as he became VP of Marketing for The Babylon Bee, a conservative satirical online news organization. This led him to become Executive Director of the National Constitutional Law Union, in June 2023. He officially exited this role to take the FCC position, while gaining more exposure through the non-professional role at the New York Young Republicans Club.

The naming of Wax rounds out a staff that includes Thomas Struble as Senior Legal Advisor to Simington; Legal Advisor Sara Rahmjoo; Policy Advisor Michael Sweeney; and Confidential Assistant Ania Urban.

Wax’s arrival in Simington’s office was first shared in the national press by Mother Jones, long-known for its liberal leanings. He was described in a headline as a “far-right activist who vowed ‘retribution'” and as the head of a group that endorsed fraudulently elected former Congressman George Santos.

It also pointed to a 2023 interview in Politico, in which Wax was quoted as saying during a NYYRC annual dinner, “Once President Trump is back in office we won’t be playing nice anymore. It will be a time for retribution. All those responsible for destroying our once-great country will be held to account after baseless years of investigations and government lies and media lies against this man.”
