FCC to dig into minority/female ownership

0

The next quadrennial review ownership panel will be held 1/27/10, and it will follow the two part format, and will deal with issues surrounding minority and female ownership of broadcast licenses. The session will run from 9AM-1PM.

The first panel will feature members of the academic community, and the second will be comprised of broadcasters and media advocacy organizations.

From the FCC, here are the topics to be covered:

* The interaction of the FCC’s media ownership rules and minority/female ownership, including the potential impact of any rule changes on such ownership;

* Marketplace or other factors that encourage diverse entrants;

* The constitutionality of targeted race-based measures for promoting diverse ownership; and

* The impact of subsequent judicial decisions on the Adarand standard.
